History of a single object: how we destroyed the rats in Bull Creek

I am Alex Barton, an exterminator from Western Australia. The destruction of various pests is my daily job. But rats have always been one of the most difficult enemies. One day I got a call and was invited literally to the house next door — to the suburb of Bull Creek with a request to destroy the rats that had settled in the attic.

Step 1. Inspection

Arriving at the place, I started the inspection. First I walked around the house to assess the scale of the problem. Then I went up to the attic to check how the rats could access the house. I found several holes in the walls and crevices that were potential entry points for rats. And, of course, I found permanent poop, pulled out layers of insulation and a whole nest in the corner of the roof. Moreover, I could not see the parasites themselves at first glance, because rats prefer a secret life, away from our eyes.

Step 2. Destruction

Then I started working on the extermination of rats. At first, I used rat traps by placing them in different corners of the attic, I left them for a few days. After a few days, most of the traps worked.

However, I knew these weren’t the only rats I needed to get rid of. I used a special poison that is safe for people and pets, placing it in the corners of the attic and in other places where traces of the life activity of unpleasant neighbours are detected. The last stage of my work this time was spraying repellents to scare away pests from the house and prevent their reappearance.

Step 3. Verification

A few days later I came back to check my work. Neither I nor my customers found any new traces of vital activity. After checking and closing the cracks and holes outside the house again, he informed the customer that the task was completed successfully.

Step 4. Recommendation

The final stage was my recommendations to the owners of the house on how to prevent the re-appearance of rats in the house in the future. I convinced them to install metal screens on all windows and doors to prevent rats from entering the house. He also recommended that they regularly check the attic for rats and seal any holes and cracks in the walls.

We talked about the need to keep food in tightly closed containers and regularly clean the kitchen and dining room to avoid leftovers on the floor or table. Finally, we discussed additional possibilities for protecting the house, after which the customers decided to check the sewers and drains for potential entry points for rats.

As an ex-terminator, I know that pest problems can be very unpleasant and even dangerous, so I try to use all my knowledge and experience to help my clients in such situations.

I left home feeling satisfied with the work I had done and that another house in the Bull Creek suburb of Perth had become safer.
